Preparing for tornado season

North Tulsa has already been hit by one tornado this year (March 30) and the Tulsa county MRC unit deployed for several days at an American Red Cross (ARC) Service Center.  This past Friday the OKMRC SRT leadership attended an all day disaster related table top exercise, along with a large group of Oklahoma Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, at the Oklahoma City office of the ARC.  In early May the City of Oklahoma City will be leading a table top exercise regarding disaster communications.  This weekend SRT leadership sent out alerts to all OKMRC Stress Response Team disaster team leaders urging them to review their deployment checklists and equipment.  So far this year SRT leadership has provided three all day Psychological First Aid trainings and we are scheduled to give more in both April and May.  Yes, Magic May is coming (as the storm chasers call the height of tornado season) and its time we prepare and begin to watch the sky.
